The Somoto Canyon is one of the oldest rock formations in Central America. In recent years, it has become one of the main destinations in northern Nicaragua. About 15 km west of the city of Somoto, the departmental capital of Madriz is this imposing geological structure The Somoto Canyon or “Namacambre” popularly known by the locals.
